Pragmata has sold another 1m copies, bringing its total sales figure up to an impressive 2m since its release last month.
Revealing this latest milestone, Pragmata’s director Cho Yonghee said the team was “blown away by the warm support” so many of us have shared with the studio since Pragmata’s release.
Yonghee’s post on X also included a new illustration of Pragmata protagonists Diana and Hugh to celebrate the occasion (see further below). “To all players, thank you so, so much,” the director wrote.
Pragmata was a long time coming for both developer Capcom and fans. It was first announced with a bizarre teaser back in 2020, when it was set for a then-futuristic-sounding 2022 launch
Pragmata went on to win scores of praise across the industry, and Capcom announced the game had sold 1m copies
Our Dom awarded Pragmata four stars in their review, calling it “a proudly experimental gamble”.
“I don’t think Pragmata is going to win any prizes for making you suddenly understand rocket science or write a laureate-winning screenplay about the nature of humanity, but the way it gets your grey matter working is special,” they wrote. “I feel smarter for having played Pragmata, and I don’t think I’m going to see another game like it for a very long time.”
