The Art of Fauna is a more traditional puzzle game for mobiles. And by that I mean you are looking at big pictures that have been broken up into puzzle pieces, waiting for you to connect them. All of the pieces are rectangular at first, all the same size, so the shape of these pieces won’t help you solve them. Instead, the focus is on the stunning pictures.

Each puzzle has an animal featured on it, with its own bit of artwork. Some are more detailed than others, some have more of an environment to them, but all of them are really stunning. As you find pieces that connect, they sort of form together, so you can end up with a big piece that’s a bit hard to move around. The screen almost feels like it has limited space, so sometimes you do need to make room for your larger piece and build around it.
If you are really struggling with the art side, you can also tap a button to flip all of the pieces to the words side, where you can see the dissected information about what you are putting together, and move that together instead. I found this to be far more challenging than the picture side, but I guess it might be fun for some. There is another button that allows you to see the full picture that you are finishing, but I often found I didn’t need that.
The Art of Fauna doesn’t have any sort of timer or rush to complete these puzzles. Instead, you can put on a pair of headphones, listen to some beautiful animal and bird noises, and slowly piece together your picture. Once it’s completed, you can read a bunch of information about the creature you have put together, learning about them, before moving on to the next puzzle.

The concept of the game is so simple, but the execution is absolutely fantastic. There are over 100 levels in the game, so you can spend a lot of your time peacefully putting together these wonderful little worlds.
