Hazelight Studios – the developer behind local co-op delights A Way Out, It Takes Two, and Spl it Fiction
Arguably the biggest surprise comes in the breakdown of how many copies each game has sold, though. It’s not last year’s Split Fiction, a success by all accounts, that dominates the list with 7m sales, nor is it 2018’s A Way Out – the company’s first game – with 13m sales. Ra ther, it’s 2021’s It Takes Two
To put that success in comparison, Pokémon Scarlet & Violet sits at roughly 28m copies sold, and our 2022 Game of the Year, Elden Ring, crossed 30m copies sold last year.
It’s worth noting these numbers don’t include Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, which was directed by Josef Fares but developed at Starbreeze Studios before Hazelight came to be. The company’s site currently has it listed as part of its portfolio since many of its staff worked on it.
“Your love and support keeps us going and we can’t wait to show you our fourth game,” Hazelight said on X. The studio announced that it was working a new game earlier this year, and though we know nothing yet about it, I expect it will feature co-op heavily.
