GTA 6 news coming in August, leaker says, as more evidence points to the game’s official website getting a backend update

It looks like we’re getting some sort of Grand Theft Auto 6 news very soon, according to one insider and some convenient circumstantial evidence. NateTheHate, a reliable industry insider, was asked about the highly-anticipated game as part of a recent Q&A on X.

Though initially reluctant to share Rockstar-related news at this point in time, they ended up revealing that August will apparently be a big month for GTA 6 news.

“I expect to see a fair bit of GTA 6 next month,” NateTheHate said on X, reiterating that the game has not been delayed after some questioned why Rockstar is yet to share any unedited gameplay. “They have a marketing plan [and] they are sticking to that plan. No reason for concern,” the leaker added.

and content of the game’s standard and Ultimate editions. The announcement arrived suddenly, as most players had expected a new trailer before pre-orders would open up. The most recent GTA 6 trailer was released over a year ago in May 2025.

Another piece of evidence that Rockstar is preparing some sort of announcement comes from iGrandTheftAuto, a community resource for all things GTA. Their X account recently posted about a suspiciously-timed update to the backend of the GTA 6 official website.

“Might be nothing… But my Rockstar monitor has just detected a change to the GTA 6 website,” iGrandTheftAuto said on X

. “This is the first one I’ve noticed since this time last month. It’s possible it’s just a regular code deployment they do at the end of each month, but it’s worth keeping an eye on.”

Last month, of course, is when the website was updated to reveal the official cover art, and direct players to look forward to pre-orders opening days later.

“There’s now been [three] minor updates to the website today. It certainly looks like something might be happening soon,” iGrandTheftAuto added an hour later, before pointing out that the last time they detected a backend change was when the cover art and pre-order news dropped.

“Doesn’t mean that’ll happen this time, but they’re definitely working on something,” they said.

iGrandTheftAuto later replied to their original X post to explain that, upon further inspection, the backend updates appear to have seemingly been to improve site performance, as they don’t appear to have added any new images or text.

This doesn’t necessarily rule out some sort of GTA 6 news arriving in August, as the form that could take may not necessarily be a trailer in the way fans currently expect.

GTA 6 is set for release 19th November on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. A PC version has not been announced.
