Monster Hunter Wilds‘ much-anticipated expansion-sized DLC, titled Ascendance, is coming next year. But with lots of performance woes and a long wait for meaty endgame battles
Following the news in 2024 that Monster Hunter: World had sold 25m copies, Capcom has now confirmed it’s surpassed 30m units
While World’s on-going success isn’t particularly shocking – it’s an excellent game with a truly robust endgame and the perfect amount of modern innovations – its performance over such a short period of time impresses. As a reminder, Monster Hunter Rise, which became big enough to escape its initial Switch 1 exclusivity, has also been keeping folks busy since 2021, so that’s three different modern Monster Hunter games attracting millions of players at the same time.
The news arrives after further confirmation that Resident Evil Requiem and Pragmata have been hits which have helped Capcom have its “ninth consecutive year of record profits” despite Wilds’ late-2025 financial slowdown due to its aforementioned issues.
For now, Capcom remains committed to Wilds’ future, and an ambitious Nintendo Switch 2 port is officially in the works. The question now is whether it’ll launch before, alongside, or after the Ascendance DLC.
