If you’re a Switch 2 owner who’s been eager to get your hands on Kena: Bridge of Spirits, you can pre-order via the Nintendo eShop now. Its pre-release price is £28.79, and its standard retail price will be £35.99.

This Switch 2 version is “feature-complete”, developer Ember Lab has said, and incorporates the game’s Anniversary DLC and New Game Plus mode. This means it includes Charmstones, Spirit Guide Trials, outfits for Kena, and accessibility features.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits initially released back in 2021 for PlayStation and PC, and arrived on Xbox in 2024. We called Kena: Bridge of Spirits “a gorgeous yet unoriginal adventure” in our review.

“Kena: Bridge of Spirits very much has first game syndrome – something with all the right ideas, weakened by their execution. If it does well – and given the fever with which it’s been followed leading up to its release, I expect it will – it’ll be because we often value AAA looks and mechanics more highly than attempts at innovation,” contributor Malindy Hetfeld wrote at the time. “I’m sure with this foundation Ember Lab has a great game in it, but this isn’t it just yet.”

Which brings me nicely to the series’ future, and its sequel, Kena: Scars of Kosmora, which was announced earlier this year. In this second outing, Kena is seeking answers to her lifelong affliction, and it’s a journey that’ll take her to the mysterious island of Kosmora, said to be “full of buried secrets from a tragic past”. Can Kena: Scars of Kosmora realise the potential the first game showed? We will see.
