I’ve had the opportunity to witness the evolution of Redmagic phones firsthand, and I have to say – none of them amazed me quite as much as the Redmagic 10S Pro. That’s the one we’re about to take a closer look at today, since in this article, we have a complete Redmagic 10S Pro review. Now that’s exciting!
We have seen the Redmagic 10 Air and the Redmagic 10 Pro in action, but what we didn’t expect was a Redmagic 10S Pro. How is that any different from the 10 Pro, and what does it bring in addition?
Redmagic 10S Pro specs
As I usually like to start, here are the specs for this beast of a phone:
- Performance: Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Leading Version, paired with LPDDR5T RAM and UFS 4.1 Pro storage
- Display: 6.85″ full screen, 144Hz refresh rate, 1.5K resolution
- Battery: 7,050 mAh battery, 80W fast charging
- Cooling: 2nd Gen Liquid Metal cooling targets the GPU area, providing an additional 3.6°C drop compared to the previous model
- Design: Matte metal frame with anti-glare etched glass, glass back, RGB lighting
- AI integration: Real-time voice translation, AI photo editing
- Other: 520Hz shoulder triggers, X-Gravity, RGB lighting, ICE-X cooling with Liquid Metal 2.0, a giant vapour chamber, and a 23,000 RPM fan
Redmagic 10S Pro vs Redmagic 10 Pro
The two are fairly similar, and since there is no visible difference, it got me thinking – how different are they, actually? So I started putting both to the test, since it tickled my curiosity. That’s when I realised that while the exterior is virtually the same (size, weight, display-to-body ratio), the inside is where all the differences lie.
Stronger CPU, better gaming!
The CPU on the 10S Pro is an Octa Core 2×4.47 GHz, while on the 10 Pro it’s an Octa Core 2×4.32 GHz. What that means is the 10S Pro has a lot more computing power than its predecessor. That allows for newer games (with smoother graphics, like Crystal of Atlan, for instance) to run smoothly, without any issues whatsoever. I personally haven’t run into a single issue, no matter how much multitasking I put it through.
Multitasking at its finest
One of the main things I did was to change my “main phone”, finally, from the old ROG Phone 6D Ultimate to the Redmagic 10S Pro. I can’t say I am disappointed. Quite the contrary, I am so happy I did that.
Redmagic 10S Pro lets me run my game while listening to music in the background, and swapping between 5 other windows without a single lag (if I could say that). It’s the ultimate gaming phone for busy individuals!
Beautiful, sleek design enhanced by the RGB lighting
I’ve always loved the simple yet beautiful design of the Redmagic phones – and not only the phones, but the tablets as well. There is a little je ne sais quoi that stands out and turns heads. For the Redmagic 10S Pro, the design looks exactly like the 10 Pro’s.
It would’ve been nice to have a little something different to make it stand out more, but I can’t say I’m completely disappointed either. The original design is good, so why change something that works, anyway?
With the glass back being fully flat, you don’t risk scratching your camera lenses or breaking them by accident, and the fully RGB-lighted logos and cooling fan are a welcome addition.
These elements make it look like a proper gaming phone, but you can also opt to switch them off entirely for a more everyday, toned-down look. I don’t recommend it, though, because the design looks so much more appealing with them on!
Highly responsive in games
I briefly touched on this before, but I have to point it out again. The gaming performance of the Redmagic 10S Pro is just off the charts. I have tried several games, from Tetris to Asphalt 9: Legends, PUBG, Genshin Impact and Crystal of Atlan, and the performance didn’t flinch. Of course, the graphics in all those games are on Ultra (or the highest ones available).
The shoulder triggers are all you could ask for
Since I do play shooters from time to time (and I am in no way, shape or form good at them), I like having the shoulder trigger buttons for some additional help, just like you would with any controller.
On this phone, you can set them up and customise them however you want, and on top of everything, you can also adjust the sensitivity. That can be a godsend in shooters, because it keeps your fingers away from the screen. I highly recommend customising them however you want according to your playstyle!
They’re highly responsive, too, so you need to play a few practice games to get them just right.
Pro back camera
The back camera on the Redmagic 10 Pro is one of the best I’ve had the pleasure of playing around with. I’ve tried the custom AI filters for the sky (Milky Way, Northern Lights, etc), and they are so much fun! The quality of the pictures is also top-tier, regardless of whether you have shaky hands or not. It has an auto image stabiliser, which is a huge feature for those like me who can’t seem to hold their hands steady to take a picture.
Still not thrilled about the front camera
The one drawback I would say is the front camera. I wasn’t thrilled when I tried taking a few selfies, but that didn’t deter me. It’s true – taking selfies is not that great, but the rest of the features more than make up for it.
It’s not easy finding phone cases for it!
One of the issues (if you could even call it that) I had with the device is the ease of finding phone cases for it. It’s really difficult, if not impossible, to find a compatible phone case. The phone does come with a case, which is sturdy and looks nice, but if you want something a little different, you’ll probably have to do quite a bit of digging to find some compatible ones online.
Honestly? When we talk about the Redmagic 10S Pro, it’s hard to find a lot of faults. It’s an extremely reliable everyday phone, and an even more reliable gaming phone. It is powerful, the battery lasts for at least a couple of days with pretty intense use, and it will never overheat on you.
Especially now that summer is here, you can rest assured that your phone won’t ask you to take a break or hold an ice pack underneath it just so it won’t burn your hands. That’s never been an issue, since the built-in fan does a fantastic job at keeping it cool.
You can purchase the Redmagic 10S Pro from the official website!
