- Silly story with its own custom music
- Physics-based challenges in the levels
- A lot of love for PBJ!
Everything is a musical nowadays, even your mobile games! PBJ – The Musical is a story-based physics game that isn’t like anything else I’ve ever played. From the charming graphic style to the little child’s voice singing and telling you the story, this one simply oozes charm.
PBJ – The Musical is set up in chapters, with each chapter being a major point in the story. It starts off with a strawberry, who is destined to become a cupcake topping, but really wants to be famous. It’s silly, it’s charming, it’s wonderful.
You are able to move the cupcake around by finding touch points in the level and, well, touching them. Sometimes you can pull them about or you might be able to use a spring to ping the touch point forward so that your strawberry will go flying. There are a few spaces where you can get stuck, but an undo button brings you slightly back.

If you do get fully stuck in PBJ – The Musical, you can just not tap the screen, so that your strawberry is then pulled forward by a magical star, solving the level while you watch.
You don’t always play as a strawberry, however. Some of the chapters have you playing as a peanut, who is destined to be used as a crayon but much rather be eaten. It’s an interesting story that might have even taken inspiration from Romeo and Juliet, as you continue to see their two worlds combine.

Some of the controls in PBJ – The Musical do feel clunky and difficult, sometimes having you rely on luck to get to the next part of the level on your own, but all of the clunky-ness is very much made up for in the wonderful singing and story.
- Your House review – “Brilliant use of interactive text-based puzzles, but might just get frustrating in the long run”
Watching the chapters get introduced by a young voice – clearly the narrator taking pride in what he’s saying – is fantastic. The songs are silly and interesting – from the use of peanuts to the storyline about the chef and what he wants for dessert. It’s a fantastic experience especially if you want something different, so much so that I played through it in one sitting.
