- Challenging platformer action
- Touch controls are a little awkward
- Diverse environments to explore
Oby Adventure is a cutesy 2.5D mobile platformer that’s sure to appeal to anyone who was raised on platform adventures like Rayman or Crash Bandicoot. You play as Oby, an adorable pig in overalls tasked with bringing peace to the Kingdom of Fruitimal. As Oby, you’ll travel across the kingdom collecting coins, jumping between platforms, and smashing foes beneath your feet.
Help Oby Save Fruitimal Kingdom
Your adventure begins with a visit to the king, Papa Aya, who tasks you with restoring peace to the Fruitimal kingdom, which is overrun with nasty creatures. To do so, you’ll need to collect the five fragments of an ancient relic that, once restored, will allow the king to access a hidden power called the source.
While you can only move left and right, the world will move around Oby at specific points, changing your perspective. You’ll also often see a red box with a star hanging in the air. This is a launcher – simply jump into it, then press the one button again to have it launch you through the air to the next section of the level.

Early in, your enemies are mostly slugs and ladybugs. However, as you progress, you’ll encounter a variety of foes to take on, including frogs, jellyfish, and eels. You’ll also face off against powerful bosses, which really test your platformer skills.
Oby Adventure is Better with a Controller
In this adorable platformer, you can move left or right by tapping the appropriate arrow, jump by pressing the ‘1’ button, and stomp on enemies with the ‘2’ button. You can also perform wall jumps by tapping jump when against a wall while in midair.
While the controls are straightforward, the way they’re laid out across the bottom of the screen makes them feel a bit awkward. Luckily, however, Oby Adventure features controller support. I highly recommend using an external controller if you’re not a mobile platformer pro, as the controls feel much more natural.

More Than a Platformer
While you’ll primarily be taking part in platformer action, certain levels let Oby test out different genres. For example, one level tasks Oby with avoiding obstacles while skateboarding, while another sees Oby competing in a 3-lap car race.
You can put the coins you collect throughout each level to good use by buying Oby some new threads. After completing a few levels, the Jack Tailor and Sons clothing store will open, allowing you to purchase new hats, pants, and sneakers for our peppy pig protagonist. Options include a Scottish kilt, a prince’s cloak, paper box shoes, and a miner’s helmet, among other silly accessories. It’s fun to dress your pig up in different outfits, and you can always change your current outfit by heading back to the shop.
Purchase Oby Adventure World by World
You can download Oby Adventure for free; however, after the first two levels, you’ll need to unlock new worlds via in-app purchases. Each world can be purchased individually. So, you only have to pay for a world when you are ready to explore it. Further, each world is reasonably priced at $0.99.
Oby Adventure is an entertaining, family-friendly platformer that will make you nostalgic for popular platformers of the past. With enchanting, diverse environments to explore, adorable fruit citizens to meet, and creepy enemies to smash, Oby Adventure delivers on all the staple mechanics of the genre, making it a great choice if you’re looking for a charming platformer.
Furthermore, the ability to customise Oby’s outfit by purchasing new duds with the coins you collect is a nice touch. While the touch controls can be a bit tricky, connecting an external controller will allow you to more easily traverse Fruitimal Kingdom.
