JOBY Beamo Ring Light review – “A beauty influencer’s delight”

  • The ring light has different strengths
  • Can be magnetically attached to phones
  • Includes a mirror

I am not a beauty influencer by any means, however, I do spend a lot of time on TikTok. Often, a lot of the influencers that are speaking directly to their phone, have that little circle of a ring light in their eyes, beautiful glowing skin due to perfect lighting, and just look great! The JOBY Beamo Ring Light seems to do the job perfectly if you’re looking to stream or make video content on your phone.

JOBY Beamo Ring Light with the light out

The JOBY Beamo Ring Light couldn’t be easier to use. You just need to pop it onto the back of your iPhone, where it connects magnetically to the back. I must say, if you have a decent phone case, you won’t be able to get it to stick well, due to that extra barrier. If you don’t have your case on though, it’s pretty stable!

The Light Itself

There is a button on the light, which you can tap from the back of your phone, to adjust the lighting around the ring. This has four modes, getting brighter with each tap. This is quite nice as you might not want to be overly lit for whatever you are doing. I found that the lights did make a difference, brightening up my face for selfies or recording.

JOBY bag

If you don’t have an iPhone, want to add it to your case, or want to attach it to something else like your PC, the JOBY Beamo Ring Light comes with a little metal ring that you can stick to your device (or phone case), and then magnet it to the circle. This has a pretty sticky grip, but I do not feel it would be that reusable beyond a few goes.

Light folded in

The inside of the ring light is a mirror, in case you want to see what you look like or see behind you. Included in the set, you do get a nice little bag to store your light in and a charging cable that allows you to charge the light, using a USB-C connection.
