- Flashy set of earbuds.
- Plug and play or Bluetooth
- Short battery life
Have you ever purchased something just because it feels so cool? Unique? Over the top in the best sort of way? The Hecate GX05 is a showstopper, which is rare when it comes to earbuds. We all have seen tons of earbuds in their little cases that snap open and closed. Some have technology-forward advances like little LED screens showing the volume while others are more simplistic. They all really do the job.
It’s just so cool.

When it comes to the Hecate GX05, you’ve got something that feels like a showstopper. Opening up the large, plastic, hefty box reveals a heavy metal triangle. It all feels so cool. I am not sure truly how to describe it, but it’s not like a pair of earbuds, it’s like having a fun little device. To open it, you need to turn the metal cage on the top, which only turns one way. This will start lighting up the case, which is, again, just so cool. Obviously, the large box is a bit too big to carry, so you can slide the triangle into a little pouch that snaps open, to bring with you.

Inside the very cool metal case, you can find the two earbuds along with a tiny USB-C 2.4GHz dongle, that allows you to connect to your phone and connect more instantly and has low latency, though you can also use Bluetooth if you wish as well. I like that this fits well into the little metal cage, so everything can be together. If you want to use your earbuds with a PC, this dongle fits into a USB, which can be plugged into your laptop or computer.
The Hecate GX05 also comes with two earbuds of different sizes, so you have the standard three sizes total, along with a tiny cable that can connect to your cage to charge everything.
What about Battery Life?

On the bottom of the charging cage, you’ll find a tiny button, which changes the case’s lights. You can also turn the light off if you want, which can save a bit of battery life. The battery life for something this cool does come as a bit of a disappointment to me. Brand new, they have around 3 and a half hours of battery life, which is just not very much. It might be because of all of the flashy features of the case, but I do wish there was just a bit more juice for something that’s wireless. I myself would run out of battery just using them on the tube going to and from somewhere.
Sound and Comfort
The Hexcate GX05 isn’t a very large set of earbuds, they fit comfortably in my ear. The sound quality is what you’d expect from Edifier – it’s great. There isn’t a noticeable delay between what you see and what you hear. It’s a very decent, flashy pair of earbuds that will get comments from friends and make you feel extremely cool.
