Death Stranding 2‘s PC release has pushed the sequel’s cumulative sales past 2 million.

That’s according to new stats from Alinea Analytics, which claims Hideo Kojima‘s second Death Stranding game has sold 425,000 copies in its opening week.

On top of the 1.6 million copies sold thus far on PS5, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach’s total volume now tops 2 million.

That means porting Death Stranding 2 on PC has boosted Kojima Productions’ sales by over 20 percent, generating an estimated £82.6 million ($110m) on PS5, and £24.5 million ($32.6m) on PC.

Interestingly, the analysis also claims the PC release prompted a secondary spike in PS5 sales, too. While it’s possible a sizeable price cut helped convert sales, analyst Rhys Elliott suggests “the discount was only part of the story”, and believes the PC release was an effective re-marketing tool for PS5, too.

“Players are getting sucked into Death Stranding 2 on PC,” Elliott wrote. “In a week, it has an average playtime of 18 hours. Over a third of the player base on Steam has already played for 20 hours or more, and almost 5 percent has played for over 50 hours. Fair play.”

Last week, Death Stranding 2’s port leaked and was promptly pirated after a misstep during Steam file updates in preparation for the launch, making unencrypted files of the full game available by mistake.

Eurogamer’s review of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach described it as “both more and less radical” than the original.
