The upcoming Call of Duty movie will be set in the Modern Warfare universe.
Confirmation came by way of director Peter Berg, who revealed the news at this weekend’s Fanatics Fest.
The movie, announced earlier this year, is still set to premiere on 30th June, 2028.
If you’re looking for more information, I’m afraid there isn’t any – that’s the entirety of the announcement. But given there’s little else we know about the movie right now, we’ll take what we can get.
Head of Activision and producer on the film Rob Kostich said at the time of the announcement that “we were only going to make a movie if it’s right. In David Ellison, we found that partnership […] We want to make sure that the authentic ity of it is captured on a human level so that it feels really real and infuse that with epic scope”.
In other Call of Duty news, the recently released Black Ops 1 and 2 ports for PlayStation 4 and 5 may cost a lot of money, but that hasn’t stopped the duo from becoming the most popular games across the PS Store. Unfortunately, that popularity predictably invited the sort of problems the two games have suffered for years on their original platforms: hackers and modded lobbies.
Some have called on Activision to reset the progress of every player and create a fresh start, while others are content to see Activision respond to the issue at all, as many feared the ports would bring back all the legacy problems that have existed for years.
