Cable Guys Buds Deadpool review – “A quality Deadpool!”

  • Have Deadpool hold your earbuds
  • Very stylised carrying case
  • Useful novelty item

I’ve looked at a variety of earbuds, from simplistic pairs that have no real personality to ones that are meant to look futuristic and fun. Now, it’s time to check out a pair that is tied to fans of a specific superhero! The Cable Guys Buds Deadpool is both a holding stand for your earbuds, along with a themed case, and earbuds to go with it.

If you’re a fan of Deadpool, you’ll obviously like these. The little statue is worth it alone; it’s a quality stand, with a good paint job and details in the actual mold. To me, it doesn’t look perfectly proportional, but that might be because of the earbud case on it, but I like the quality of it generally!

The earbud case itself is in the design of Deadpool’s torso, with some little bullet holes and graphics on the top and bottom. The case has a clear front, his chest, and a clear back, his back with his swords on it. Funnily enough, the Cable Guys Buds Deadpool has the case put on the chest, instead of the back, as that’s where the tiny light is. It's DEADPOOOOL

The tiny light is green when the case and earbuds are fully charged, flashing green when the earbuds specifically are charging, orange when the case is charging, and flashing orange when the case has low battery. It’s simple, but very easy to see.

The Cable Guys Buds Deadpool earbuds and case don’t have the best battery life we’ve seen, but for the price point, including the stand, it’s decent. The earbuds themselves have up to 5 hours of charge, with the case able to recharge the earbuds up to 8 times.

The earbuds also come with three different-sized ear caps, if you want to change them to something a bit bigger or smaller. There is also a small USB-C to USB cable that comes with it, as the case charges from the bottom, allowing a cable to hang directly down.

The sound quality itself is what should be expected for the price point. For me, it didn’t feel quite as crisp as my current pair, but it is good enough quality to listen to some music or play your favourite mobile game. The earbuds have touch controls, allowing you to pause, skip a track, change the volume and even use Smart Assistance if you have it enabled. You can also touch to answer, decline and end calls just by tapping your earbuds.
