Mario Kart World fans are getting their hopes up for a return of a much-loved Battle mode, after Nintendo releases then swiftly removes accidental teaser image

It appears Nintendo has a plan to update Mario Kart World‘s Battle mode with something Bob-omb-related.

Earlier this week, a screenshot of some upcoming Mario Day (March 10th – Mar10) events for Mario Kart World made its way online, and while Nintendo was quick to remove the image it wasn’t quick enough to stop the eagle-eyed internet.

The image in question – which remains preserved on reddit – shows an updated Battle mode icon featuring a Bob-omb, with many surmising that an update to add Bob-omb Blast to Mario Kart World is in the pipeline (unexpected but very apt Mario pun, there!).

Bob-omb Blast is a Battle mode which has cropped up in a number of previous Mario Kart titles, and sees drivers throwing exploding Bob-ombs at their opponents in order to score points. At the moment, Mario Kart World only offers Balloon Battle and Coin Runners as Battle options.

Many are very keen for Bob-omb Blast to make its Mario Kart World debut. “God I hope so,” reads one reply on the reddit post. “It’s my favorite battle mode!”

Another simply added: “We are Sex Bob-omb!!!”, so yes, Tom Jones is now stuck in my head.

You can compare how the current Battle option looks in Mario Kart World to its (potential) upcoming Bob-omb featuring icon below. Personally, I also hope Renegade Roundup comes to Mario Kart World. I do enjoy throwing my kids in jail when I get the chance (only for fun in the game, of course…).

Elsewhere in Nintendo news, the company recently announced a Direct focused on its upcoming Super Mario Galaxy Movie.

In addition to announcing this Direct, Nintendo also shared some new artwork for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which reveals some perhaps unexpected characters which will be popping up on the film’s release.
