Sega has teamed up with satnav company Waze to offer Sonic the Hedgehog voice navigation.
Sonic’s voice is available in English or French, with the blue blur offering instructions “with his usual coolness and confidence”.
There are also Sonic-themed icons for the Waze app, turning your car into the Speedster Lightning vehicle from the recent Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, and you can select an “Energetic” mood to “add extra Sonic personality to your drives”.
Reads the press release: “the Sonic and Waze collaboration brings more speed and fun that everyone can appreciate during their drives”.
Just, not too much speed and fun folks, make sure you obey traffic rules!
This is yet another collaboration for the latest Sonic Racing game, as Sega is really on a roll here. There’s a trainer and apparel collaboration with sports brand Puma; there are Sonic items in Fortnite; and the game itself is filled with collaborations with other brands, including Minecraft and Hatsune Miku.
What’s more, earlier this year Sega partnered with McLaren Racing to become the official gaming partner of the F1 team. It’s all part of Sega’s Racing Around the World campaign to celebrate its latest game.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds itself is a blast, though our Eurogamer review admits it’s “often too chaotic for its own good.”
