I am a huge fan of hidden object-style games, especially ones that have a cute look to them! When I saw that Ogre Pixel was releasing Hidden in My Paradise on mobile, I was pretty excited to start looking around for cute objects.
Hidden in My Paradise is a level-based hidden object game, where you get a big screen scene. The majority of these screens are outdoors, in foresty areas. There are lots of little moments happening; animals enjoying the outdoors, items telling stories inside the tents and houses, fires buring in the night. It’s a lovely little story that you can see through the visuals.
Main game in Hidden in My Paradise
In the levels, you can zoom and move around, seeing everything th at’s there. You will have a bar at the bottom of objects that you are looking to find, as your sort of first task. There is also a magnifying glass that you can drag around, which allows you to see things under the leaves of the trees or inside walls.
This is really useful and gives you a second look at the levels, which I found to be fantastic when I was stuck because it’s almost like looking at the picture in a completely new light. You can also change the time of day from Morning to Afternoon to Night. Though this doesn’t seem to change many of the levels much, it does allow a new perspective on what is going on.
There are some items that sparkle within the level. These items have a fairy trapped in them! You can move any object anywhere you want, creating your own little stories and interacting with them. If you drag a sparkly object to a new place, you’ll free the fairy and collect them. This movement isn’t just used for the fairies, but also to set up little photographs.
There are a few key photographs that you can re-create in Hidden in My Paradise, which show some lovely scenes. You will be tasked with creating a peaceful waterfall, featuring some flowers not quite there, to help out a little bunny or bring together a bunch of creatures to a bonfire, so that they can have a fantastic night.
Using your camera, you can capture these moments to complete these tasks. I found this photograph mode to be interesting. I absolutely loved the little pictures and sceens it is creating, however it’s a bit touchy when it comes to creating the pictures. I often found that an item wasn’t quite in line with the camera, so the camera refused the shot. It’s a little needlessly challenging, but I do like the concept very much.
Sandbox Mode
Hidden in my Paradise has a Sandbox mode as well as the main levels. This mode allows you to have a completely blank world that you can then start designing yourself. Then, you can share these levels with the rest of the world online. You can unlock more items by gaining coins, which are found either in chests in the base game, through petting animals, or through completing the different objects you can use.
I spent a lot of my coins on tickets for the Gacha machine, which gave me bundles of items for Sandbox mode. Though I am not patient enough to create beautiful worlds myself, I do like the idea of creating your own levels and am excited to see what everyone creates.
